The CITY OF MORDEN invites you to apply for the full-time permanent position of Facilities Maintenance in its Community Services Department. This position normally works on a rotating shift schedule that includes evening and/or weekend work. The good news is this shift schedule allows for extended consecutive days off in a row.
Operate and maintain mechanical systems and equipment at all recreation facilities
• Make and maintain artificial ice surfaces and operate all ice re-surfacing equipment
• Perform a variety of cleaning tasks, minor building/equipment upkeep, and facility set-up for rentals.
• Maintenance and grounds-keeping duties for ball diamonds and soccer fields
• Work effectively with minimal supervision
• Communicate well with the general public and with co-workers
• Work well within a team environment
The preferred candidate will have or be willing to obtain:
• A Provincial Refrigeration Class Power Engineer’s Certificate
• An Arena Operator’s Level 2 certificate
NOTE: All costs for required training are paid by the City of Morden
• Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, mechanics or maintenance are a definite asset
Successful candidates must have:
• Valid Manitoba drivers license
• Positive attitude and high level of self-motivation; be a self-starter
The successful candidate will have demonstrated a high level of initiative and enthusiasm in their approach toward fulfilling their responsibilities in previous roles.
