Equipment Operator/ Labourer

Term: Full-time
Pay: $21.36 to $25.07 a year
Are you a skilled equipment operator looking for a permanent full-time year-round position? You may be somebody who has a keen interest in learning to operate different types of equipment on a professional level. Equipment Operators work to keep our roadways, sidewalks and surrounding areas safe and accessible. The CITY OF MORDEN invites you to submit your application for the position of Equipment Operator/Labourer in its Public Works Department.

Responsibilities:

· Operate – skid steer, street sweeper; potential to move into heavy equipment operation over time
· Drive single axle and tandem trucks
· Perform physical labor tasks i.e. general construction for roads, sidewalks, replacement of signs
· Operate hand and power tools
· Work outdoors in all weather conditions
· Undertake other duties as assigned within the Public Works area
· Work after hours and on call as required

Qualifications:

· Valid Class 3 Manitoba license with air endorsement or able to obtain within a six-month period (training provided). Class 5 Manitoba driver’s license required.
· Previous experience in operation of skid steer, tandem truck and/or loader
· Ability to work both independently and as part of an effective team
· Ability to communicate fluently in English
