City of Morden Announces Transition in Curbside Compost Service

Lady throwing compost items in the compost bin

The City of Morden wishes to inform the community of an imminent change in our curbside compost pickup services due to the closure of our current provider, Enviro Clean. The company has regrettably decided to cease operations, citing challenges in the aftermarket for compost and difficulties in achieving cost recovery as the primary reasons for their closure.

While this transition may bring temporary inconvenience, we wish to reassure residents that the City of Morden is diligently exploring alternative solutions to ensure the continuation of our composting program. As an interim measure, compost collected during this transitional period will be redirected to the SWAMP landfill.

We ask that Morden residents continue to participate in our composting program. Your ongoing commitment to separating and disposing of compostable materials as usual plays a crucial role in our community’s environmental sustainability goals.

In addition, please be reminded that the Morden compost site remains open for the drop-off of yard waste only, including branches and grass clippings. By utilizing this service, residents can significantly help in reducing the volume of waste directed to the landfill. We kindly ask that you continue to use your green bins for all household composting needs.

The City of Morden appreciates your patience, understanding, and support during this transitional phase. We are optimistic about the future of our composting program and look forward to sharing more details as alternative solutions are finalized.
