Morden Multicultural Winterfest Mascot Design Contest

Contest Overview

The Morden Multicultural Winterfest is excited to announce a public contest to design the official mascot for our festival! This is a unique opportunity to showcase your creativity and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes our community so special. Let your imagination run wild and contribute to a festival that brings together people from all walks of life.

Contest Theme

The mascot should embody the spirit of the Winterfest—joy, unity, and cultural diversity. We’re looking for a character that can represent the warmth of different cultures coming together in the winter season.

Contest Guidelines

1. Eligibility: Open to all ages and residents of Morden and surrounding areas.

1. Design Requirements:

- The mascot should be suitable for all ages.

- Designs can be submitted in digital formats (.png, .jpeg, .pdf) or as a high-resolution scan of a hand-drawn sketch. Handrawn designs are also accepted!

- Include a brief description (up to 250 words) explaining the concept and inspiration behind your design.

1. Submission Deadline: All entries must be received by February 3, 2025 at 12 PM.

1. Submission Method: Please use the submission form below or email your entries to marketing@morden.ca with the subject line “Winterfest Mascot Contest Entry.” You can also drop off your paper entries at the Morden Civic Centre!

Judging Criteria

Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:

- Creativity and originality

- Relevance to the multicultural theme

- Visual appeal and suitability for Winterfest branding

- Clarity and expressiveness of the character

Prizes

Grand Prize: The winning design will become the official mascot of the Morden Multicultural Winterfest. The winner will also receive a $100 Boston Pizza Gift Card and festival merchandise.

Winner Announcement

Join us for the grand unveiling of the festival mascot at the Access Event Centre, East Asia Pavilion on February 8, 2025, at 4 PM.

Terms and Conditions

- By submitting an entry, participants agree to allow Morden Multicultural Winterfest to use their designs for promotional purposes.

- The winner may be required to work with festival organizers to refine and finalize the mascot design.

- By submitting an entry, participants agree to transfer all possible copyrights and trademarks to Morden Multicultural Winterfest. This includes any future claims of ownership, making the design the sole property of the festival organization.

Eligibility

The contest is open to all individuals, except employees of the City of Morden.
Participants under 18 must have parental or guardian consent to enter.
Submission Guidelines

Entries must be submitted via the official online form or email at Morden’s Winterfest Events Page.
Mascot designs must be original, creative, and reflective of Morden’s values of multiculturalism, inclusivity, and community spirit.
File Requirements

All designs must be submitted in one of the following formats: JPG, PNG, PDF, or AI, with a maximum file size of 10 MB.
Hand-drawn designs can be scanned and uploaded, provided they meet the file requirements.
Judging Criteria

Creativity and originality.
Alignment with Morden’s multicultural and community values.
Feasibility for use as an official mascot (e.g., adaptability for costumes, logos, etc.).
Ownership and Usage Rights

By entering the contest, participants agree to transfer all rights to the mascot design to the City of Morden.
The City of Morden reserves the right to modify or adapt the winning design as needed for promotional and branding purposes.
Winner Selection and Announcement

The winner will be selected by a judging panel appointed by the Winterfest Committee.
The winner will be announced during Morden’s Multicultural Winterfest celebration.
The decision of the judging panel is final and binding.
Prizes

The winning design will be featured as the official mascot of Morden’s Multicultural Winterfest and other city events. $100 Boston Pizza gift card and event swag.
Disqualification

Entries that are incomplete, plagiarised, or do not comply with the submission guidelines will be disqualified.
Consent and Privacy

Personal information provided in the submission form will only be used for the purposes of this contest.
By entering, participants agree to have their name and design featured in promotional materials.
Contest Changes

The City of Morden reserves the right to cancel, modify, or extend the contest if necessary.
By submitting an entry, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
