Fishing at Colert Beach in Lake Minnewasta is a beloved activity for many visitors. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, it’s essential to follow the designated fishing areas and guidelines. Here’s everything you need to know about where to fish and the rules to keep in mind.
No Fishing on the Beach
For the safety and enjoyment of all visitors, fishing is not allowed on the beach or the swimming docks. This rule is in place to prevent hooks left behind, which can be hazardous. Additionally, fishing is prohibited from the old diving board pier and the clay pit area beside it, as these locations are too tempting for kids to fish from the beach.
Designated Fishing Areas
While fishing on the beach is restricted, there are plenty of other beautiful spots around Lake Minnewasta where you can cast your line. Please adhere to the following guidelines for a safe and enjoyable fishing experience:
- Use only the designated fishing areas.
- Respect other visitors and the environment by disposing of any trash or fishing equipment properly.
Other Beach Rules
To maintain a pleasant environment for everyone, we have a few additional rules:
- No dogs on the beach.
- No bikes or electric kick-style scooters on the beach or boardwalk.
These rules help ensure that everyone can enjoy the beach safely and comfortably.
Responsible Driving in the Campground
When driving through the campground, it’s crucial to maintain a slow speed. Many children walk along or cross the roads to get to the beach and playgrounds. Please show your pass to enter and stop at the stop sign to acknowledge the staff working the gate. Avoid driving around the gate towards oncoming traffic, as this can be hazardous.
Parking Guidelines
Parking at the boat launch area is restricted unless you have an accessibility parking pass. For everyone else, parking is available at the top, and you can walk down to fish. This helps keep the boat launch area clear and accessible for those who need it.
A Clean and Enjoyable Lake Experience
Thank you for respecting these guidelines and helping to keep Lake Minnewasta a clean and enjoyable place for everyone. Your cooperation in cleaning up trash and following the rules makes a significant difference.
