Morden Regional Airport Receives CANPASS Designation from CBSA

The Morden Regional Airport is thrilled to announce that it has received the CANPASS designation from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). This long-awaited approval, following the airport’s application submitted in April 2019, officially came into effect on February 7th.

Mayor Nancy Penner expressed her satisfaction with the new designation, emphasizing the benefits it brings to the community. “This allows for the clearance of private aircraft entering Canada directly from the United States to now land at the Morden Airport, and clear customs and immigration quickly and securely,” she stated.

The CANPASS designation refers to an airport specifically marked as a point of entry for individuals enrolled in the Canadian Passenger Accelerated Service System (CANPASS), who are arriving in Canada on private or corporate aircraft from the United States. This program is designed to facilitate faster and more convenient border clearance for low-risk, pre-screened travellers.

“Achieving this designation has been a long journey for us, but it is a very welcome development. We are pleased to join the Winkler Municipal Airport as a CANPASS designated Airport of Entry,” Mayor Penner added.

The city of Morden is excited to extend this new service to private aviators and looks forward to the increased accessibility and economic growth that it will undoubtedly bring to the region.
