The City of Morden, Rural Municipality of Stanley, and the City of Winkler are pleased to announce funding for the Stanley Community Pathway project. This funding agreement will provide a total of $750,000 for the construction a pathway connecting Winkler and Morden through the RM of Stanley.
The municipalities are partnering with the Stanley Trail Association and generous, local businesses to construct a paved, active transportation pathway which will also become a part of the Trans Canada Trail!
This regional project has been talked about for decades and is now coming to fruition as an example of the strength of partnerships and regional collaboration. The pathway which will run along the South side of PTH 14 / 3 will provide a safe and accessible means of non-vehicular traffic between Winkler & Morden including access to the Boundary Trails Health Centre.
The Stanley Trails Association has played a vital role in advocating for and supporting the development of the pathway. Countless hours have been invested in planning, securing approvals, and ensuring that the project meets the needs of the communities it will serve.
More than just a pathway, we see this as a symbolic connection and partnership between our three municipalities. We look forward to building on the success of this project as we look to other regional projects which will serve to strengthen each community and the region.
