Register Your Child
When registering your child the school will need proof of residency (such as a utility bill or lease agreement), proof of your child’s date of birth and a completed school registration form including your child’s health card number.
The earlier the principal is aware of a new student’s arrival, the better prepared the school can be. Advance notice gives school staff time to meet with you to find out more about your family so that the transition into school will be successful.
Usually, children start going to school when they are four or five and must attend school until the age of 15 or 16. Kindergarten remains an optional year of schooling. Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children who are five years old before December 31st at the school of their choice.
Home Schooling
Parents do have the choice to homeschool their children. To do this, you must register with the Department of Education and follow a specific curriculum.
Nursery, Day Care Centres & Family Child Care Homes
There are licensed facilities and homes in Morden that provide nursery school or childcare services to families. A subsidy is also available for qualifying families. For current information contact: Family Services & Consumer Affairs, Community Services Delivery.
Red River Technical Vocational Area (R.R.T.V.A.)
The RRTVA is a partnership of five southern Manitoba school divisions devoted to providing technology education options to high school students in the region.
Think of RRTVA as a ‘virtual’ regional technical school. Instead of one large building, there are six locations that have from one to six technical programs. Students have a ‘home’ and ‘away’ semester. The required core credits are earned in the students ‘home’ school. During the ‘away’ semester, they are bused to the school that offers the program of their choice. They can earn anywhere from four to twelve credits toward graduation in a technical program.
