Lake Minnewasta is a four-season facility that originated with the damming of the Dead Horse Creek. This recreation area offers a full-service campground, swimming, fishing, canoeing, sailing, and hiking in the summer and snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing in the winter months. The lake is approximately 1/2 kilometres wide by 3 kilometres long.
Whether you like to hike, bike, fish, canoe, sit by the campfire or hang out at the beach, Lake Minnewasta offers many activities to choose from.
There are a total of 157 sites and two yurts within Lake Minnewasta Recreation Area. They are split into six parks. Click here to view the campground map.
Private showers and washrooms – Keys available upon check-in with a $20 deposit allow you access to locked showers and washrooms 24/7. Seasonal public washrooms open during office hours and year-round washrooms open during the day and events.
Exclusively seasonal sites 1-24. Most are full-service sites with 30a and 15a service. Some don’t have sewer service.

Sites 100-319 – Twenty-two of these are seasonal sites. All full service (30a and 15a) including sewer. No 50a serviced sites. Call the office for more details on these paired sites. Any size camper will fit.
Sites 26 – 45 – Basic sites with no services at all. Only a picnic table and firepit are provided. Recently moved along the canoe launch road. Lake Minnewasta is a small lake in Morden, Manitoba enjoyed by many people with different interests. Boating is a privilege, and operators should be skilled and knowledgeable. For your safety and the pleasant boating experiences of other boat users, all operators need to follow the rules and regulations.
To avoid delays, please ensure that all information is completed on the form.
As a considerable number of forms are rejected due to common, avoidable errors or omissions which will cause a delay in processing, please take the time to thoroughly complete the form. This greatly reduces the chance of errors that can slow down the registration process and access to your boat.
This form is also available at the Campground Office.
The watercraft registration form is to help reduce the risk of aquatic evasive species contamination. With zebra mussels now in Clear Lake as well, any equipment used in waters in Clear Lake or any lake east of the Red River must be decontaminated before coming to Lake Minneweasta.
*The City of Morden no longer permits any gas-powered watercraft on Lake Minnewasta.
Lake Minnewasta is renowned for Black Crappie fishing. Anglers can also catch northern pike, walleye, white sucker, and pumpkinseed.
If bringing a boat, be sure to follow Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) guidelines and note that only electric trolling motors are permitted.
Shore fishing is allowed throughout the lake except in designated swimming areas and near swimming docks.
No parking in the boat launch area unless you have an accessibility parking pass. Parking is allowed at the top, and you can walk down to fish. And remember, let’s keep Lake Minnewasta pristine by cleaning up after ourselves. A clean beach is a happy beach!
Lake Minnewasta is home to Splish Splash Morden, a privately operated floating obstacle course available during the summer months. Usage fees apply.
