MyPropertyMB: Streamline Your Property Assessment in Manitoba

The Municipal and Northern Relations Branch now offers Manitoba property owners outside Winnipeg the option to receive electronic assessment notices via MyPropertyMB, a move to modernize and save costs. This electronic system replaces traditional mail, offering convenience and reducing expenses for municipalities. Property owners are required by law to get an assessment notice if there’s a change in value, to ensure transparency and fairness. These assessments, which happen every two years for over 445,000 properties, previously relied on costly mailings.

Benefits of MyPropertyMB

MyPropertyMB allows owners to access their notices online, facilitating easier record-keeping and property comparison. Registration is secure, using information from paper notices to create an account. The portal also simplifies communication about investment properties, new constructions, and sales, transitioning these interactions to digital. An upcoming promotional campaign aims to boost registrations, with the collaboration of various municipal associations.

Digital Shift in Property Notices

This digital shift not only offers a preferred notification method to property owners but also significantly cuts down mailing costs, leading to lower assessment service fees for municipalities. Property Assessment Services is focused on promoting MyPropertyMB to maximize its benefits, urging municipalities to encourage registrations. This initiative reflects the branch’s commitment to improving service delivery for property owners and municipalities alike.
